Hey there! I’m Evangelos, a Cybersecurity Professional passionate about tackling novel research challenges and exploring innovative ideas across systems, networks, and security.
I'm currently a Doctoral Candidate at Northeastern University (PhD completion in Summer 2026), where I’m fortunate to be advised by Professor Aanjhan Ranganathan. Previously, I was a researcher at New York University in Abu Dhabi for three years, where I worked with Professor Christina Pöpper on cellular networks and aviation security. In the meantime, I completed my PG.Cert. in Advanced Cyber Security from King’s College London. Before that, I got my B.Sc. in Computer Science from Athens University of Economics and Business.
My current research focuses on designing, attacking, and defending real 4G/5G telecommunication systems. This includes OTA security testing of 5G SA devices, NR sidelink/V2X, connected-car LTE/5G connectivity, eSIM infrastructure, and legacy cellular functions. My work has led to publications at venues such as USENIX Security, NDSS, ACSAC, and WiSec, a patent on SMS-based localization, as well as coordinated vulnerability disclosures via GSMA and the FCC. Alongside my academic work, I hold industry certifications such as CISSP, SecurityX (CASP+) and CySA+.
Outside of research, I enjoy traveling, basketball, movies, good books, especially history and philosophy, and making music on the violin/piano. I’ve also been enjoying the challenge of picking up new languages.
